2017 CarrierLists Freight Outlook Survey Results

Posted by Kena Amoah on

We recently polled carriers in the United States and wanted to share the results of our CarrierLists' Freight Outlook survey for the 2nd half of 2017.  One of the most interesting findings is, even with expectations for an uptick in freight volumes and rates, trucking companies still believe diesel prices will remain relatively flat compared with 2016.

Key findings include:
  • 59% of respondents said freight volumes in the first half of 2017 beat their expectations.
  • Line haul rates, though, dragged freight volumes in the 1st half;  62% said rates were in line or just above expectations.
  • Over 90% expect the second half of 2017 to be better than the same period in 2016.
  • 85% expect diesel prices to remain relatively stable with only a slight increase for the remainder of 2017.
